60th Anniversary Some history of Wyberton FC 1963 An idea of a village Football Team in Wyberton came about as a result of a discussion between friends one Saturday in the Pincushion Inn including Roy Gosling. Played friendlies only, getting games against who they could e.g. Waveny, Ford Motors, Grattons, Lin-Can, Richmond. 1964 Approached Ron Smith, League Secretary of the Boston League, who told them they would have to get organised and also get their own pitch. Therefore, they went to see Jim Fossitt and borrowed Kirton Town’s pitch for the first season playing all matches at Graves Park. They entered the Boston Sunday League which had just been formed, having only one division. 1965 For the second season a team was also entered in the Boston Saturday League. The Club’s headquarters was at the Hammer & Pincers and the landlord, Billy Wardle, was the Manager of Wyberton for the first eighteen months. Matches were played at Wyberton Playing Field on Aub Motley’s land. Early success was in the Moses Cup and Kirton Cup. A tea bar on Frampton Marsh bank was fetched off the bank by Fosdyke Cricket Club and transported on George Hall’s horse and cart to Wyberton and used as a dressing room. This is still on the ground today used for storing playing field equipment etc. Early records (1967-68) show officers and committee members as Mr Forman, Mr K. Scrupps, Mr. C. Borrill, Mr A Bark, Mr J Nimmo, Mr G Curtis and Mr K Jackson. Mr. C Borrill was to be Secretary for over 22 years. 1970 In 1970, Mr I Smith was elected Chairman, a position he held for over 25 years. 1975-6 Inter Wyberton awarded Most Sporting Team Award by Boston Referee’s Association. 1979-80 Division One Champions of Boston Saturday League 1980-81 Inter Wyberton win Boston Sunday Cup. Reserve Team entered into Div 3 of Boston Saturday League. 1981-82 Inter Wyberton win Boston Sunday League Premier Division. 1982-83 Inter Wyberton win Boston Sunday League Premier Division 1984-85 Reserve Team win Boston League Res Cup 1986 Melvyn Scrupps took over Boston Saturday League Premier Division side as Player Manager and his wife Christine becomes Club Secretary, a position she held for over 16 years, taking the club into a new era. 1986-7 Res Team win Boston Saturday League Division 2. Wyberton Res win the Reserve Cup. Inter Wyberton win Boston Sunday Premier title. Inter Wyberton win Boston Sunday Cup. 1988-89 Wyberton Res win the Reserve Cup. 1989-90 Wyberton Res win the Reserve Cup. 1990-91 Wyberton win the Willoughby Cup. Wybeton Res win Division One Wyberton Res win the Reserve Cup. Wyberton A win Division Four 1992-93 Wyberton Res win Division One 1996-97 Inter Wyberton reach Lincolnshire Sunday Cup Final for first time only to lose to Freetime F.C. of Grimsby 3-0 at Boston United’s ground. Inter Wyberton win Boston Sunday Cup. Saturday side win the Willoughby Cup 1997-98 Runners-up in Lincolnshire League Challenge Cup Final losing 2-1 to Lincoln. United Colts at Scunthorpe United’s ground. Reserves win the Willoughby Shield 1998-99 Reserve Team win Division One, Reserve Cup. • HISTORY OF WYBERTON FOOTBALL CLUB SINCE 1999 1999-00 Inter Wyberton win Boston Sunday League Premier Division. 2000-01 Wyberton winners of the Lincs Junior Cup beating Moulton Harrox in the Final played at Bourne Town. Boston Saturday League Premier Division Champions and Boston Sports Cup winners and the Willoughby Cup Reserves win the Willoughby Shield 2001-02 Inter Wyberton disbanded after the 2001-02 season. Reserve Team win Boston League Reserve Cup. 2002-03 Wyberton win Boston Saturday League Premier Division. Fishtoft Cup winners and the Willoughby Cup 2004-05 Wyberton managed by Barry Kilmore win the Lincolnshire League for the second time. 2006-07 Wyberton win the Willoughby Cup 2007-08 Wyberton win Boston Saturday League Premier Division and the Willoughby Cup Reserve Team win Boston Saturday League Division Three. 2009-10 Wyberton win Boston Saturday League Premier Division. Boston Sports Cup winners. Fishtoft Cup winners 2010-11 Wyberton win Boston Saturday League Premier Division and the Willoughby Cup 2011-12 Reserve Team win Boston League Reserve Cup. 2012-13 Wyberton win Boston Saturday League Premier Division going through the season unbeaten winning all of their league matches. Boston Sports Cup winners. Fishtoft Cup winners. 2013-14 On 3 October the new dressing rooms are officially opened by the Minister for Sport, Hugh Robertson MP. Wyberton repeat their success in winning Boston Saturday League Premier Division unbeaten but drawing two league matches and win the Willoughby Cup. Reserve Team win Boston Saturday League Division One and Boston League Reserve Cup. 2014-15 Wyberton win the Lincolnshire League Challenge Cup beating Ruston Sports in the Final at Lincoln United’s ground. 2014 – Football Club celebrate their 50th Anniversary marking the occasion with a match between teams of Past Players and Present Players. 2013-14 Reserves won the Premier League 2015-16 Wyberton Res the Premier League, the Sports Cup and Fishtoft Cup 2016-17 Wyberton A win Division 2 2021 – Wyberton Reserves win the MaccaSports Cup 2021-22 Wyberton FC won the Lincolnshire League and County Cup New dugouts erected. 2022-23 Wyberton A won Division One and the Challenge Cup. Reserves were Premier League Runners Up* 2023-24 Our Ladies make history and enter the FA Cup Ladies win the League and apply for promotion. A Team win the Willoughby Shield 1st Team win the Challenge Cup.
