Club History

Cardea FC were formed in 2012, starting out in the Sunday PM Football League, taking over from the underachieving Eastfield Tigers. 

For the 2013/14 season, the club decided for a change and entered the Peterborough Sunday Morning Football League, this was a success as Cardea lifted the Division 3 title and made it back to back league wins in 2014/15 as they also took the Division 2 crown. The 2015/16 season saw us become Hunts County Cup champions.

Such was the quality of the squad and the success achieved, the club applied to enter the Peterborough & District Football League. 

2016/17 saw Cardea leave the Sunday sides to enjoy their football without pressure on them and begin Saturday football in PDFL Division 4. The decision was followed by the club carrying on the success over the years and in the first season, achieved promotion as well as winning a cup double, The PFA Minor Cup and The Huntingdonshire Lower Junior Cup.

2019/20 was cut short due to Covid-19 although this did not stop a 4th consecutive promotion in 4 year period. Cardea were promoted on a Points-Per-Game basis after the season curtailed in March 2020 and were still in the Quarter Final of the newly formed PDFL Cup Competition.

2020/21 was also cut short with a vote to curtail the season due to Covid-19 still causing problems worldwide with Cardea rejoining Division 1.

At the end of the 2021/22 season Cardea firsts merged with the reserves to play in Division 2 in the 2022/23 season. On Sundays the first team met the Reserves in the Hunts Cup final with the Firsts emerging victorious and claiming the County Cup.

The 2022/23 was a great season for the club with the Saturday Firsts, managed by Michael Norris, winning the league by 11 points and gaining promotion back to Division 1. The Sunday Firsts were runners up in the Hunts Cup final.
